It happens to everyone as they grow up. You find out who you are and what you want, and then you realize that people you’ve known forever don’t see things the way you do. So you keep the wonderful memories, but find yourself moving on.
I’m not romantic, but even I must concede that the heart does not exist solely for the purpose of pumping blood.
Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham (Downton Abbey)
At some point, you gotta stop looking up at the sky, or one of these days you’ll look back down and see that you floated away, too.
The good times and the bad times both will pass. It will pass. It will get easier. But the fact that it will get easier does not mean that it doesn’t hurt now. And when people try to minimize your pain they are doing you a disservice. And when you try to minimize your own pain you’re doing yourself a disservice. Don’t do that. The truth is that it hurts because it’s real. It hurts because it mattered. And that’s an important thing to acknowledge to yourself. But that doesn’t mean that it won’t end, that it won’t get better. Because it will.
In Greek, “nostalgia” literally means “the pain from an old wound”. It’s a twinge in your heart, far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn’t a spaceship, it’s a time machine. It goes backwards and forwards, it takes us to a place where we ache to go again.
I’m imagining a day where I get up and I know that I will not see you. Because you are far away. Okay I will not see you. No chance. And now i’m imagining a day when I get up and I know that I might see you. Might, could, maybe…of those 2 days that’s the day I want. That’s the day I choose. How can one step away from you ever be anything for me but a step in the wrong direction?
Will Donner || Waiting For Forever
Excuse me. I’m going to go wander the streets alone. Invisible, unwanted, and unloved; A pathetic shadow in a city with no heart.
Love is like handing someone a gun, having them point it at your heart and trusting them to never pull the trigger.
Spongebob Squarepants
You know I’ve got this theory, there are two kinds of people in the world. There are lyric people and music people. You know, the lyrics people tend to be analytical. You know, all about the meaning of the song. They’re the ones you see with the CD insert out like 5 minutes after buying it, pouring over the lyrics, interpreting the hell out of everything. Um, then theres the music people, like Brooke. Who could care less for the lyrics as long as its just got like a good beat and you could dance to it. I dont know, somtimes it might be easier to be a music girl and not a lyric girl. But since Im not, let me just say this. Sometimes things find you when you need them to find you, I believe that. And for me its usually song lyrics.
Courage isn’t just a matter of not being frightened, you know. It’s being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway.

To Live would be an awfully big adventure
J.M. Barrie Peter Pan
“Tell me about this Wizard Howl of yours.”
“He’s the best wizard in Ingary or anywhere else. If he’d only had time, he would have defeated that djinn. And he’s sly and selfish and vain as a peacock and cowardly, and you can’t pin him down to anything.”
“Indeed? Strange that you should speak so proudly such a list of vices, most loving of ladies.”
“What do you mean, vices? I was just describing Howl. He comes from another world entirely, you know, called Wales, and I refuse to believe he’s dead!”
Diana Wynne Jones Castle in the Air
I tried to drown my sorrows but they learned how to swim.
